SAC Annual Dinner and Awards 2013

SAC Annual Dinner and Awards 2013
We now have a date for this event; it will take place on the 20th April 2013 at the Royal George Hotel, Perth. There is an excellent menu planned and keenly priced rooms will be available for those wishing to overnight after the event. Tickets are £30 each and overnight including breakfast is £45 per person. The bar prices at the George are reasonable and we understand food is plentiful.
Update, This was a great evening, good food, great company. If you missed it, shame on you but there's always next year.

Perth Airport earmarked as base for new helicopter air ambulance
The Scottish Aero Club welcomes a new kid to the block.
Perth Airport is about to become home to Scotland’s first and only charity-funded air ambulance helicopter. The aircraft will deploy from the airfield and the administrative HQ team is already settling in at the Old Control Tower as our near neighbours.

Islay Air Show 14th July 2012
Talk Friday 6th July 2012 astronaught Colonel Alvin Drew

It is unusual for the Scottish Aeroclub to have a presentation this time of year. Some things are usually reserved for the long winter evenings. We would have liked to give more notice, however travel constraints and commitments have necessitated we wait until we could be sure this would happen.

Elaine Whitehead

I am delighted to announce that Elaine Whitehead has agreed to a part time contract with the Scottish Aero Club. Elaine is well known to most SAC members as a cheery member around the property - who also happens to be married to Kevin Whitehead, proprietor of the local Gyrocopter Experience. She will assume most of the activities that Alan previously performed on the Club’s behalf.

Oshkosh 2012

I am keen to take in Oshkosh again this year but it does require some very early booking if you want to get deals on accommodation and travel. Last time we flew Edinburgh to Newark with a connect flight to Chicago. After collecting our car in Chicago we stayed overnight then drove to Oshkosh for the opening day. We were obliged to drive from/ to Greenbay each day (about 40 miles each way) as we were later in booking. However if we move quickly we may be able to rent a good house this time in Oshkosh itself, which would benefit any ladies who may not want to spend each and every day at the show. Once again, I am happy to co-ordinate numbers if I can get expressions of interest by end of January at latest.
