Evening talk - Open Skies

Defence Diplomacy at Altitude, December 1st

The Open Skies Treaty was a multi-national attempt to sacrifice air sovereignty in order to enhance military transparency and build multi-national confidence by permitting observation flights over almost the full territory of each signatory state.

In this extremely interesting session, club member George Roberts will present an overview of his involvement in implementation of the policy, along with numerous anecdotes of what it was like to support this new found diplomacy in the aircraft of the time at altitude!

You won't want to miss this tale of immediate post cold war relations between air forces - not least given what it may tell us about where we are right now. In the SAC clubrooms at 7 for 7.30pm.

Evening Lecture: Oshkosh in Pictures

Evening Lecture: Oshkosh in Pictures

Thursday November 3rd

Our winter lecture programme gets off the mark at 7.30 with a talk by our own official club photographer, Wallace Shackleton, on his visit with fellow club members to this years EAA Airventure Oshkosh.

Most club members are well aware of Wallace’s stunning aviation photography and, given the exciting aircraft on display at Oshkosh this year, we can be sure of an extremely interesting and informative evening! As always, Wallaces lecture will be followed by drinks and nibbles with all members and their guests made very welcome.
