Mark Hillier - Silver Spitfire - The Longest Flight
Thursday 16th July, 19.00h
Upstairs Room at the Clubhouse
Taking advantage of the visit of the Goodwood Spitfire Team with their Spitfire Flight Experiences, the Team’s Operations Manager, Mark Hillier, will deliver an evening talk on the Silver Spitfire Longest Flight, which took place in August 2019.
The iconic Silver Spitfire G-IRTY/MJ271 set a Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by a single-engined single-seat piston aircraft. Flown by British pilots, Matt Jones and Steve Brooks, the aircraft took off from Goodwood Aerodrome on 5th August 2019 and flew across 26 countries in 4 months.
Mark is a well-respected and deeply knowledgeable aviation historian and author who will explain just what went into making this amazing feat happen.
